Calzone differs from the classic pizza in its unusual closed shape. For example, if in a pizza with burger sauce, the filling is visible on the surface of the cake, then the calzone components are hidden inside the dish. Having learned to cook this original recipe, you will be able to surprise your loved ones more than once.

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 cup flour;
  • 0.5 glass of water;
  • 2 g dry yeast;
  • 30 grams of olive oil;
  • 3 tbsp. tomatoes, canned in own juice;
  • spices to taste - rosemary, thyme, basil, hot red pepper;
  • 200 g of pre-grated soft cheese (for example, Mozzarella);
  • sweet pepper, pork chop, olives and fresh tomatoes for the filling.

Step-by-step recipe

Yeast stir in water, add flour, 1 tbsp. l oil and salt to taste. Stir the mixture and knead the dough to a smooth consistency. Divide the mass into two equal parts, cover with a towel and leave for half an hour to approach.

To make Calzone sauce, smash canned tomatoes with olive oil, add chopped spices, salt and pepper to taste. Separately, grate the cheese and cut the filling.

Spread the dough with your fingers or a rolling pin to make a round cake. Put it on baking paper.

Carefully lay out half the cheese first, and then the filling on one half of the circle. At the same time, leave an empty space along the edge of the cake for pinching (1-1.5 cm). Pour the sauce over the filling, top with the rest of the cheese and cover it with the second half of the dough. Connect the edges of the cake with pinching movements and oil them.

Grease the surface of the pizza with an egg so that you get a golden crust when baking. Pierce the top layer several times to allow steam to escape.

Put the pizza on a baking sheet and place it in an oven preheated to 180-190 degrees. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cut and serve Calzone to the table hot.
